Let the jobs begin

Mother's day was greeat weather. Enough time for me to scrape and lightly sand the bottom and apply 1 coat of multi season ablative paint. Also spent hours repacking the shaft and alomost dislocating my elbow in the process. Had a leak in the water tank plumbing from last season. I removed the leaky fitting and applied a good dose of pipe thread dope. Hopefully that addresses the issue. Sometime in the near future a new tank is needed.

Finally, 2 zincs added to the shaft. Last year the one zinc was GONE at the end of the season.

Next up: install new Garmin 3205 with GMR18 radome on new (yet to be delivered) Garhauer radar pole. Install batteries, rebed chainplates.

Getting Started

Lots of projects and no time to get them done. Luckily Finesse doesn't splash until after memorial day. This blog will highlight the progress towards getting her ready.

Finesse is a 1984 Sabre 32 Aft Cabin. She's new to me for 2 years now and we love her. Our previous boat, Quissett, was a Bill Tripp desgined 1969 era Galaxy 32. That was a project boat for me: new rigging, new electrical system, new paint job, and figureing out fun stuff like how to fix core rot.

Amongst the projects will be:
  • Replace boom controls (topping lift, outhaul)
  • Install new Garmin GPSMAP 3205 and GMR 18 radome on a Garhauer radar pole
  • Install flexibile solar panel
  • Repack packing nut
  • Paint bottom
  • Rebed Chainplates
  • etc.
